By kind invitation of the Ethnic Minorities Achievement Team (EMAT) MENTORS Project Reps participated in the Portuguese Achievement Conference (Lambeth Education Dept.) and organised a Workshop for all attending Delegates to this important Education Conference. This regular event is a professional reference and of particular relevance to matters related to the residing portuguese speaking community.

The Conference focused on sharing good practices regarding the achievement of Portuguese speaking children. The programme also included 10 Roundavels covering Classroom Practices, Professional Mentoring and Careers Advise, Volunteers Projects, After School Clubs, Celebrating Portuguese Culture and International Links.
EMAT also announced that thanks to a partnership with the British Council, this Easter 6 Lambeth Teachers were to visit Portuguese Schools with a view to develop direct educational links in Portugal. The Conference was well attended (fully booked) and generated considerable interest with attending diplomatic representatives from Portuguese speaking countries. A copy of "Aiming High - Raising Portuguese Achievement" (Conference Report, 2005) was distributed to all Delegates.
